Chris Zander Quoted on Tax-Efficient Investing by Barron’s Penta

Evercore Wealth Management Chief Wealth Advisory Officer Chris Zander was interviewed by Penta, the Barron’s publication for high net worth investors, on tax-efficient investment strategies.

The article focused on private placement policies that allow investors to place alternatives, such as hedge funds and credit arbitrage strategies, into potentially tax-advantageous life insurance wrappers. Frequent trading associated with these strategies can incur significant capital gains and other taxes, however.
 
“If you have a strategy that generates 8% to 12%, if you live in New York you may lose half of that to tax,” Zander said.
 
“Private placement products are very effective tools, but not for the faint of heart – they generally require significant investments,” he added.
